My name is Michele Perkins and I am the owner of the Japan International Karate  Academy ( JIKA) in Trussville Alabama.

Karate is  not about breaking boards or bodies, it is about pushing yourself beyond what you ever thought you could do and often surpassing your goals. You do your best- never giving up, and in the process build a more mentally and physically fit person.

Japan International Karate  Academy is here to encourage and develop people of great character and perseverance.

I invite you to  please come and visit our facilty.

Soke

A Brief History

Japan International Karate center   has been in Alabama since 1972. We are a well respected school of traditional Japanese Karate.

Heiwado was developed by  Soke Kiyohisa Hirano. He is an Undefeated JKA champion.  One tied match with Suzuki Sensei. Also, Soke Hirano was the first college student to receive a full scholarship  for karate to the University of Japan.

Heiwado stems from the Wado Ryu system which originated in Japan in the first part of the last century.

Soke Successfully integrated Wado ryu, Shotokan and his knowledge of boxing and Jujitsu creating a style that is both powerful and beautiful in Hei wado.

The objective of Heiwado is

"Not to conquer others, but to conquer

 the  weaknessess within ones' self".
