Developing future leaders

Our program  consists of physical training , academic teaching  and leadership development.  Each student is taught how to conduct a class, and how to assist. We  discuss and role play problem solving techniques , decision making , as well as how to be an encourager . These are skills that  not only benefit the Dojo, but also transend into their personal lives.

What comes to mind when you think of karate? Breaking boards? Flying through bamboo forests? Defeating an onslaught of determined ninjas? Personally, I kind of like the idea of flying through bamboo…. but I digress.

As an instructor of the martial arts I have had the privilege of working with many people of all shapes, sizes , backgrounds , abilities, and ages. While most of us will never be as fast as Bruce Lee or as tough as Chuck Norris, we can always try to reach our maximum potential. With that in mind I have come to learn that everyone can do karate.

  Its all about attitude!

Karate is not about breaking boards or bodies it is about pushing yourself beyond what you ever thought you could do. Just when you think you can’t go anymore, you dig deep inside yourself and go a little further, reaching your goal and often surpassing it. Karate is a metaphor for our everyday lives. You do your best, never giving up, and in the process you build character, confidence and are becoming a more physically and mentally fit person.  The  qualities of a leader.

A true  leader does not merely point the way, he or she shows you how to get there by example.
